This variety produces beautiful red tinged leaves. The leaves can vary from dark red to a tint of red depending on weather and growing conditions. The leaves are crisp and sweet and grow in an upright head as the more traditional green variety.

TUCSON PLANTING INFORMATION: Produces well throughout winter if protected from freeze damage. Excellent production even when soil cannot be deeply dug due to caliche or rocks. Plant leaf varieties August 20-April 1 and head varieties September 1 to February 15.
