First introduced in 1902, Golden Bantam is a popular yellow variety sweet corn. The six foot stalks produce slender, sweet, excellent quality ears that average about 6-7 inches long. It is one of the sweetest open pollinated varieties available today. Many of today's hybrids are derived from this variety. The more you plant, the better your yield will be; always plant at least 4 rows deep to assure pollination.

When to Plant: sow on first frost free date

Depth of Planting: 1-2" deep

Distance Between Plants (after thinning): 4-6" apart

Distance Between Rows: 30" apart or may be grown in hills

Raised Bed Planting Information: After thinning, plants should be 6" apart throughout bed.

Soil Type Recommended: does well in most soil. Feed regularly with compost.

HARVEST: Harvest ears when kernels are plump and full of milky liquid. Silk tassels will be dark brown and moist.

Note: corn does not transplant well.
